Samhain Collection

Samhain Collection 2024

Hello and welcome to the first collection of for the Green Witch Fragrance Co.

I chose to relaunch for November as I love seeing the start of winter as the start of a new year or cycle for me.  Rather than the traditional 1st January, the beginning of winter resonates more with me, it’s a time to relax and recover, to take stock of the year and to slow down with the season and take time to reflect and renew my energy, ready for the next year.

For my Samhain collection I have been inspired by the season and created 8 scents to accompany this transformative time.

Summers End

As the summer draws to a close and autumn frosts make way for the winter chill, I wanted to capture an early morning walk in the woods.  As the leaves turn golden and fall, crisp beneath your feet, while the last rays of the summer sun breaks through the trees and warms your face.

This intense woody accord has notes of cedar, patchouli and vetivert with herbal touches of lavender and rosemary, along with incense, labdanum and sensual amber, you can smells the fallen leaves and soft earth beneath your feet.

Adorned with golden Leaves, soothing calendula petals and Citrine - with its positive energy and burst of colour, to bring happy and uplifting energy, like the rays of the autumn sun!

Bonfire

I was inspired to create this melt to capture the essence not only of a bonfire lighting the night sky, but also a hearth firing lighting a home.

I miss my open fire, despite the work they are to maintain, and I wanted a scent that captures this intense fragrance.

Bonfire has a base of orange, honey and green notes leading to a heart of rose, aniseed, orris and clove, all layered on a truly rich and encompassing smoky base of vanilla, wood and musk.

This scent it well named as will bring a bonfire from the middle of the woods right into your home.

Adorned with golden burning stars, like a night sky illuminated and the sparks crackling from the fire. Soothing calendula petals, to calm and temper those flames and crystals Citrine, Tigers Eye & Smokey Quartz.

Stingy Jack

Stingy Jack is a Scottish myth, he was a man tricked by the Devil, a trick that resulted in Jack never being able to enter Heaven or Hell when he died, he was instead cursed to wander the Earth, with nothing but a piece of coal the Devil had given him.  Jack has roamed the Earth ever since, carrying his coal in a carved turnip.

Ghastly faces used to be carved into turnips or potatoes to ward off evil spirits and Stingy Jack, and as the traditions were carried to America the first Jack O'Lanterns were seen, as pumpkins were more readily available.

This was my inspiration for this melt, and lets face it, we all need some pumpkin spice action this time of year.

These rich, creamy pumpkin spiced melts fill the room with lashings of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove & ginger, the essential warming Autumnal fragrance, and if you're anything like me, a scent I stock up on so I can enjoy it all year round!

Dionysus

Inspired by the Greek God Dionysus, the god of wine and pleasure! But there is so much more to this deity. One of the few gods that could navigate between the living and the dead and travel to and from the underworld.

His story is rich and full, just like the melts I've created for him, this strong, long-lasting scent is rich, luxurious and beautiful.

This fragrance is inspired by Black Pomegranate, combining the tartness of juicy pomegranate, rhubarb, raspberry, pink pepper, cardamom, thyme, frankincense, lime, and lemon, moving to clove, patchouli, lily, apple, plum, and raspberry. Ending with notes of amber, tobacco, cedarwood, guaiac wood, cistus, and musk.

A truly decadent scent decorated with black kittehs - anyone who has seen Netlfix's Kaos will know why I had to give Dionysus a kitten! Amethyst -  for spiritual growth and grounding, and to offering a sobering effect to counteract the often 'boozy' energy of Dionysus

Hecate

Hecate is the Greek goddess of magic and witchcraft. Hecate is associated with the dead, ghosts, and the spiritual world, which is why I have created this melt for the Samhain collection.

A powerful goddess, granted power over the sea, earth and heaven by Zues, she is known for her healing powers and wisdom, and her mysterious nature.

For this goddess I chose a traditional Nag Champa scent, become entranced by rich, creamy sandalwood infused with mystical frankincense, geranium and suggestions of rosewood with a middle note of rose, sandalwood and a hint of lilac resting on a base of sandalwood, patchouli, cedarwood and intense Oriental amber.

Adorned with Amethyst for strength, inner clam and to enhance intuitive abilities and Obsidian for protection, psychic ability and manifestation.

Cernunnos

Lets welcome the celtci horned god of the forest Cernunnos, his associations with vegetation, fertility, and male animals meant I need a beautiful natural scent with a strong masculine theme.

"According to Neo-Wiccan traditions, Cernunnos died during the fall, which affected vegetation during this time of year. However, he was resurrected in the spring and impregnated by the fertile goddess of the land. Unfortunately, there is not much known about Cernunnos. However, his associations with the themes of death and resurrection and many of his images that depict his association with the underworld create an association between Cernunnos and Samhain. Some Wiccans seek the help of Cernunnos when they want to open the portal between our world and the world of the dead." Mira Silva

I've chosen an exhilarating scent of long walks in peaceful woodland , feel the moss beneath your feet and steal a glance of the wild animals as they leap past. The scent nods to bluebells, dewdrops and an energising winter breeze all rolled into one captivating blend. Bramble berries add a sweet touch, while the crisp fragrance of pine needles meets cedarwood, patchouli and weathered moss.

Adorned with Smokey Quartz to keep us grounded and protected during these dark nights and black obsidian for protection, psychic ability and manifestation.

Obsidian

Black Obsidian, a type of volcanic glass, is known to offer protection, grounding, and facilitate spiritual communication. This stone is often referred to as a "psychic vacuum cleaner" because it can effectively remove negative energies from one's aura and environment. By creating a strong energetic shield, it also aids in psychic protection and the release of past life traumas. Additionally, Obsidian can enhance creativity and serves as a powerful reminder to consistently tap into our creative energies.

I've paired this crystal with a sophisticated spice trail of Jamaican pepper, cardamom pods and cumin seed, cooled by Chinese black tea leaves, Calabrian bergamot and a slice of lemon, enrobed in a velvety soft base notes of Indian woods, Tonka and musk.

A dark a mysterious scent for this powerful crystal.

Amethyst

Amethyst has the ability to purify and safeguard both the physical and spiritual bodies, making it a valuable tool to release unhealthy thought patterns and cleanse the energy field. Its healing properties extend to the spiritual, physical, and emotional levels by eliminating any negative influences. This stone also offers a calming effect on the mind, promoting relaxation and reducing stress. When used in meditation, Amethyst aids in quieting the mind and reaching higher levels of consciousness. It can assist in restful sleep and dream work, promoting pleasant dreams. Furthermore, Amethyst enhances perception and can awaken inner wisdom and intuition, helping to strengthen one's connection with Spirit Guides, Angels, and God.

For this crystal I chose a refreshing scent. A fruity floral fragrance, with hints of crisp winter cyclamen, green apple and sweet honey. Top notes on a heart of delicate freesia, lilac and jasmine with hints of rose and orange blossom. Musk and balsamic tones compliment the base.
